We were featured in "Good Morning Denmark" this week! Proudly representing our team, the iGEM community and #GMOambassadors
Just read about PrimeBEE bee vaccine that @DalialFreitak and her team is developing. The @ualberta_igem @iGEM team in Canada is doing some awesome complementary work using #synbio, check them out: 2018.igem.org/Team:UAlberta #SynBioBeta2019 #syntheticbiology n.pr/2E7Z5cy
Newsflash: 🦇Bats can swim 🦇And are surprisingly good at it 🦇Bats are capable of swimming in stressful situations if the need arises 🦇Some species, such as those belonging to the genus Pteropus (flying foxes), have been known to brave the water to secure a meal #BatStroke
We had a great time in the lab today with students from the Arts and Ideas Sudbury school extracting DNA from strawberries, pipetting and loading gels, and of course, #agarart! We're always happy to host school groups, scouts, and parties. Reach out to [email protected] !
Peter Parker/Spider-Man was and is my favorite. I wanted to be a chemist (like him) and to turn myself into Spider-Man. (Still working on it.) Thank you, Mr. Lee—excelsior! cnn.com/2018/11/12/ent…
#iGEM2018 Team wikis are now temporarily thawed, and will be re-frozen on December 7! Take this time to make corrections or add results announcements. Wikis will be permanently archived on Dec 7, so make sure you're happy with your personal info/photos. igem.org/Team_Wikis?yea…

We just saw Keith @PardeeLab give an amazing talk on the applications of cell free systems! A major highlight is cell-free systems themselves are contained avenues to harness the power of synthetic biology. This comes w/o the risks of biocontamination in sensitive environments!
A seed shrimp has been swallowed by a cardinal fish. When threatened, the small ostracod synthesize & ejects #luciferin & #luciferase; when they combined emit light. The glow draw undesirable attention to the cardinal fish; it spits out the ostracod & the glowing liquid & flees
