WHAT IS THE BORISWAVE? Since 2021, migration to the UK has skyrocketed. More than 4.5+ million people have arrived here over the past four years - a phenomenon that some are calling 'the Boriswave'. But what caused the Boriswave - and what can we do about it? 🧵
When Britain voted to leave the EU in 2016, just 7% of people's said that they wanted more immigration from India 🇮🇳 But since 2021, more than 1 million Indians have migrated to the UK. We can change our settlement rules to stop this change from becoming permanent.
Another feature of the Boriswave — HIV is now being tested for by default in ‘high prevalence’ areas, per a doctor friend.
DHSC estimated that 6,000 migrants a year would get a care work visa. In fact, in 2023 alone, 348,000 migrants received a care work visa. And soon these migrants will be eligible for Indefinite Leave To Remain, meaning benefits, social housing, and NHS access. Reform the rules!
