A patch of goldenrod with front row seats a uniquely hazy sunset where smoke from the fires out west made it possible to look directly at the crisply contrasted sun on the horizon. The coolest view of the sun I have seen in a long time.
Rather than fight the light pollution here in the North Georgia Mountains, I framed it vertically with the Milky Way in this shot.
Best thing I’ve seen today. Just incredible.
Saw a few leaves on the ground today and it got me excited about Fall colors in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Happy #WorldPhotographyDay. This was on Friday the 13th during the Perseids shower peak. This particular fire ball was by far the largest of the night. It came right over my head and down the middle of the Milky Way.
