People that know about transport have been saying it for years. More roads means more cars means more congestion in a never ending cycle. The Welsh government is starting to tell their constituents the truth when will the Queensland Government & Brisbane City Council?
Traffic on our roads has increased. We’ve responded by building more roads. It’s encouraged more journeys by car and made traffic worse. But we can do things differently in Wales. Find out how when @Amanwy responds to the Roads Review on 14 Feb.
I give up. This success was just erased by council. In the words of the Transport Coordinator the wombat crossing has been replaced by “a safer at grade zebra crossing and red threshold treatment to delineate the crossing”. How is that safer exactly??
I'll take this as a success. At my local school, negotiated council down from two parallel drop-off/pick-up lanes to a single lane with a wombat crossing to access parking.
The last thing I did before starting work today was put the Imperial March over King Charles' entrance to Westminster Hall and OH MY GOD. SOUND UP.
I watched this scared at the actions of this driver, especially driving down the footpath. Then I realised it's a footpath I walk/ride on. Now I'm terrified!

something for @brisbanecityqld @bne_lordmayor @MarkBaileyMP to take note of
New paper reviews dozens of cycling studies in developed countries, asking why more people don't bike. Answer: "The leading barriers [are] related to riding on the road alongside motor vehicles." In other words: **Build protected bike lanes** doi.org/10.1080/014416…
These Australians have done a better job of summing up the state Britain is in than the entirety of our media.
The UK Government has made an ad about the spiralling cost of living crisis, and it’s surprisingly honest and informative 🇬🇧 👉 @dontpayuk 👉 @eiecampaign 👊 we're on patreon: patreon.com/thejuicemedia
Missing from the yelling about 6.1% is the fact that inflation is declining. Prices rose 2.1% in the March quarter, 1.8% in June. Probably less in September. Annual rates simply affected by the base effect. Inflation has peaked.
Having done my best to piss off a lot of people on this website one thing that stands out is how people who are accustomed to driving their car everywhere have never even really given car culture any thought. Like, no part of it.
Remember, the next time an objector points out an “empty bike-lane,” it’s because they’re efficient. “This stretch in #Copenhagen conveys 8 times as many people on bikes compared to cars - still it's mostly cars we see.” — @urbanthoughts11 HT @anderspreben

Meanwhile in @brisbanecityqld we have free parking, “cyclists dismount” signs instead of bikeways and buses cancelled due to congestion @bne_lordmayor @ryansrumblings @MarkBaileyMP we should do better theguardian.com/world/2022/mar…
