On Wednesdays we host 18 Reasons’ Cooking Matters Series. Last week students traveled to Berkeley Bowl to learn how to shop healthily on a budget. Today, they will be preparing a celebratory meal for their graduation

We had the pleasure of having Guest Instructor Chef Olive in our kitchen yesterday. He taught our Bakery Bootcamp participants how to prepare Blueberry Scones and Cheese Muffins. Our trainees were very excited to get to take their creations home.
Yesterday our Bakery Bootcamp trainees learned how to shape bread and sweet potato buns. Here Chef Gram is demonstrating how to create the perfect bun shape.
Last Friday our Bakery Bootcamp participants began their goal setting process by creating vision boards. We enjoyed hearing from each of our participants and seeing their unique creations. We look forward to assisting them in achieving their goals.
Yesterday our Bakery Bootcamp participants learned about proper measuring techniques through classroom and kitchen exercises. For Chef Bernice’s caramel sauce demonstration, participants helped to scale the recipe and observed how to properly measure and prepare ingredients.
It’s day one of our Bakery Bootcamp training program! Over the next 3 weeks our participants will be engaging in a variety of activities from cupcake preparation to goal setting to mock interviews. We will be sharing an inside look of our Bakery Bootcamp— be sure to follow along!
