it was such a privilege to meet with Dr. Rochelle Walensky! our fellows had an amazing time learning more about her career journey in the U.S. government as former CDC director, while staying true to her goals of addressing critical public health needs. thank you Dr. Walensky!

happy Friday from micro rounds! an immunocompromised patient with high fevers, hypoxia and organ disfunction grows these colonies on charcoal yeast agar (but not regular agar) from a BAL sample… you guessed it! Legionella pneumophila 🧫🔬 rare to get such a good gram stain 🙌
nothing says happy new year like some path review of the inside of a surgically removed intraventricular cyst confirming our clinical suspicion of neurocysticercosis 🐖🪱🧠
there’s no stopping these two when the creative juices start flowing! 📸 micro rounds today inspiring first year, Dr. Uddin, and one of our favorite attendings, Dr. Nau, to embark on a probiotic research collaborative… they are already working on their infomercial tactics 😂
a bittersweet evening for our fellows & faculty! it has been a privilege to know and train under Dr. Tim Flanigan! as grateful as we are to have had him, especially with all that he has done for this division, he will be so missed in his (well deserved) retirement 👏🎊

a great night out with the fellowship! feat. important discussions such as, why hasn’t the pun “deja flu” caught on? how lucky we are to have a PD (Dr. Cunha) and APD (Dr. Sanchez) who are so brilliant but also down to earth. P.S. the buttercake (!!) did not disappoint 😌
wondering what there is to do for fun in Providence, RI? our fellows love trivia nights! various breweries around the city host week night trivia and this one.. happens to be dog friendly, which Dr. Gill (ID-PGY4) loved after a day on consult service 🐶

ID-PGY5, Dr. Panaccione, presented her work (started during her residency) today at ID-Week. The outpouring support from the Brown ID division, all the way in LA, was incredible. Special s/o to our Brown IM residents (ID doctors in the making 😌🦠) who also stopped by to support!
ID-Week 2024 is off to a great start! amongst the jam-packed schedule, filled with incredible learning opportunities, the Brown ID division attendees were able to get together in LA 🌃 we had an awesome turnout from current fellows & faculty to alumni reconnecting!
with so much to explore in Providence, RI there is always something for our fellows to experience outside of the hospital! this week our fellows took a ghost story boat tour down the Providence River featuring a spooky twist on the history of the area 👻
