the real insight is that avatar was so culturally impactful and so much of mainstream culture draws from various elements of it people can’t even tell it’s the soup they’re swimming in now. “shakespeare was unoriginal” kind of thing.
the "Avatar has no cultural impact" argument falls apart when you realize the methods and technology developed for these films have shaped some of the biggest films and video games that have come since 2009.

Caught up on #AvatarFireAndAsh. It's more of the same. The visuals aren't a wow anymore. Many awkward scenes, especially in the 2nd half. Lang gets some showcase moments, and I chuckled a few times, but that's about it. No need for this basic sci-fi family soap opera to continue.
