An imperfect directory that exists beats a perfect one that never ships.
I now know for sure: there will be products launching on this directory every week for the next 4 weeks.
A directory lives or dies by how much users trust it. Everything else is secondary.
Each small feature compounds. The directory today is very different from the one a week ago.
Some days, you don’t even want to post about building in public. It feels like there’s nothing worth sharing.
🪞 When others are growing fast, it’s hard not to wonder if you’re on the wrong path.
What’s the hardest part of sticking with one product long-term? 1.lack of feedback 2.lack of time 3.lack of motivation 4.lack of results
Building in public doesn’t mean shipping every day. Sometimes progress is realizing what not to build.
Gemini 3.1 is really impressive. I asked it to convert i18n in my project to a single language. It wrote a script to scan the files and used regex to handle the replacements. It worked out pretty well. Other models would probably just start modifying the code.
A lesson from my latest side project: I assumed directory sites were a validated idea. I assumed AI would naturally bring more users. I launched anyway. 7 days later: 0 submissions. Now I’m rethinking distribution, incentives, and timing. Feedback welcome.
I thought directory sites were a proven business. AI → more indie projects → more directory demand. I built one. 1 week after launch: 0 submissions. Wrong assumption, or bad execution?
How do you view your indie project? 1.side hustle 2.experiment 3.long-term business 4.learning tool
Do you prefer: shipping a 70% product fast or waiting until it’s 90% polished
I don’t rely on motivation anymore. I rely on direction.
Hard truth: Login doesn’t mean activation. Now focusing on guiding users to the next action, not adding more features.

Nothing impressive shipped today. Still showing up. That matters.
Do you think 📂directories are still worth building today? 1. still opportunities 2. too saturated 3. only for niches 4. not worth it at all
