MYTH #1: Asian Americans are a monolith More than 22 million people of Asian descent live in the U.S. While those of East Asian and Southeast Asian descent make up the largest shares — no group makes up a majority. A huge variety of ethnicities exist within regional groups.

For the last year, reporter Rob Perez has been investigating Native land dispossession in Hawaii. His story starts long before in Guam, where his family had its own brush with land takings. propub.li/2SwagVy

I hate how many jokes I'm seeing about Millennials and Boomers. Ageism is rude and gross. Just stop.

Spent over a year being extra careful not to catch COVID-19. Vaccinated, wait post vax2. Catch up on appointments, errands, etc. Wear mask due to unvaccinated family member. Catch ordinary, not deadly, but miserable cold. 🤢

Drinking hot tea, to relieve stuffy nose. And now my living room that was comfortable seconds ago feels like an inferno. There is no justice in the world.

Congress provided billions to help health care workers fight COVID-19. Turns out, some health care systems may have used these taxpayer dollars to boost their bottom lines, rather than patient care and worker support. I'm calling them out ⬇️ (THREAD) nytimes.com/2021/05/21/hea…

Tackling the sky-high costs of prescription drug prices requires a firm understanding of what's actually happening. Earlier this week, I confronted a Big Pharma CEO about the industry's lies about R&D so we can start focusing on real solutions for families.

Taming the World’s Leading Killer An article was published this week that has findings which could save millions of lives. Why did you miss it? Because there was zero media coverage of it. Zero! Tells you something. Tells you a lot, actually. So, here are the details. 1/thread

The White House is announcing today that major dating apps are getting in on the vaccine persuasion push. (There’s already a thing about post vaxx hookups, right?) There will be badges and other in-app incentives for those who have gotten their COVID vaccine.

Please stop telling my patients they wouldn’t have gotten cancer if they’d eaten more vegetables. A healthy diet is a wonderful thing, but it does not protect you from terrible misfortune. Signed, A gastrointestinal oncologist

Happy Tax Day long weekend! A reminder that the government already has all your tax info and we're the only country that has to pay to file our taxes. All because companies like TurboTax lobbied to make us pay them $31 billion a year to file our taxes. propublica.org/article/inside…

.@cnn has now confirmed what I wrote 4 days ago, that CP shut down pipeline because they couldn't bill customers. Per CNN: "The company halted operations because its billing system was compromised...and they were concerned they wouldn't be able to figure out how much to bill"

Source also tells me one reason Colonial might have taken operational network down - aside from being cautious - is because they may not be able to invoice customers who receive fuel if their IT network is locked with ransomware, preventing them from being paid for fuel.

Why did it take @CDCgov til May 13 to recommend the vaccinated be liberated? Because it was unclear if vaccines protect against transmission—not just harboring the virus in your nose—but spreading it It's abundantly clear now, at least w/ mRNA vaccines, that transmission is rare
