Getting ready for my 11o’clock, but in the meantime - a quick eyelet demo.
Putting in eyelets - Tricky, a bit noisy, but satisfying. 11 more to go.
Toiling a corset. I have to make sure that the boning channels are measured and cut to size to allow for bagging out cleanly. A little bit tricky.
The waist detail. The tailoring element mixed with the corset. The shoulder straps. This garment has so many great details. Let’s just bask.
‘Toile cutting’ time. We don’t actually use toile cutting as a phrase, we don’t really have a term for it... If it was the final garment I was making we would call it ‘sample cutting’. Do you think the term ‘toile cutting’ could catch on?
Pre-shrinking fabric is important. Some fabrics can shrink a substantial amount.
I prefer magic tape to masking tape (no affiliation) for pattern cutting because you can see through it when used. Also, sometimes masking tape can be quite thick and sticky, and if you need to peel it to reposition, the pattern paper may tear.
Asymmetric pattern cutting requires good methodology. Using the CF and CB as referencing points.
I’m feeling the irony of this design. The pattern cutting is clever, it’s all black, what’s not to like.
If you have a pattern cutting or general fashion production question, ask away, I’ll try my best to help. (Around til 1:30ish).

Imagine if all brands had a modular section to encourage clothes life extension... The designers would be pushed to innovate. Could be very interesting indeed.
Modular dressing is something that should make a comeback if we are thinking about ways to extend the life of our clothes. #Balenciaga’s #1960s blue wool suit was designed with different coloured ‘dickies’ to mix and match the ensemble @Fash_Rev @FIDMMuseum
This looks great! Life drawing really teaches you about form, which really helps when designing.

Woke up to this visual delight! Top left: looks so spongey...
Top right: I’m a sucker for an oversized sleeve.
This looks like it will be such a great experience!
