Meeting local residents today who all agree that the number 2 route proposals will adversely affect the area around Perretts Park. And that do nothing is not an option. We have encouraged everyone, as a first step, to respond to the consultation. travelwest.info/projects/a37-a…
It was as much a shock to us as it was to all of you. Here’s to ten years of Do!! You!!! What a ride - let the eagle fly.
Sometimes the distance between good and perfect is the ”good” company goes out of business because customers choose the excellent one. Also, a good enough product may have massively larger development costs because of all the ”good enoughs” just don’t make a scalable system.
The elephant in the room: @MiroHQ's terrible multiple object selection abilities... @AdobeUK @figmadesign you've clearly been spoiling us 😔
We have collected all the signs that were laid in the city after yesterday's #BlackLivesMatter protest so we can preserve them for display in the @mshedbristol
Celebrating black makers, a thread... 🖤
I am now watching YouTube ads😑 are they getting better/more targeted or is my self-control dissipating?
User researcher's fallacy: "My job is to learn about users". Truth: "My job is to help my team learn about users". #ux
We just announced that all Basecamp employees get this Friday + Monday off to create a 4-day “get prepared” weekend. Time to think about childcare, elderly care, extra time to go to the store, etc. If you’re an employer who can afford to do this, I hope you’ll follow suit.
I’m of the belief that, in a few years, product management and UX design leadership will be indistinguishable. In some orgs, they already are.
The art of telling people you're busy on emails: 1. Never use uppercase letters. Holding down Shift isn't a good use of your time. 2. No complete sentences. The more fragments, the busier you will appear to be. 3. CC people who can respond to questions on your behalf.
A good way to be unsure about something is to ask for one more opinion. More opinions often lead to indecision, not clarity. If necessary, ask for a few, add your own, make a call, and move on. Nearly all decisions are temporary, but stalling is permanent time lost.
Could there be a more arrogant term than “FU Money”? Horrible phrase.
We talk often about the value of collaboration and empathy in product design but courage doesn't come up so much. It takes courage to listen selflessly, to accept the limitations of your perspective, rally your peers and challenge your assumptions. Yeah courage is important.

User interviews 101: 1. Ask open questions that relate to a concrete time or place. 2. Build confidence and reassurance by praising helpful responses. 3. Clarify occasionally, allowing them to fill gaps. 4. Politely underline contradictions allowing them to reframe.
1/ THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR PATIENCE while I tell you why I think the movie Metallica: Some Kind of Monster should be *required viewing* for cross-functional product teams. netflix.com/title/80174429
