If winning is all you care about, you’re more likely to give up in games when winning doesn’t seem possible. You’re also more likely to choke under pressure and avoid challenges. This is why you need to have additional motives such as love for the game and the desire to improve.
Ten things mentally tough athletes don’t do in games: 1. Make excuses 2. Complain 3. Give up 4. Lose focus 5. Get overly emotional 6. Panic 7. Dwell on mistakes 8. Get complacent 9. Stay in their comfort zone 10. Play selfishly
Mental toughness requires emotional discipline. To play your best, you need to tolerate stress and maintain a positive mindset.
In the end.. Rocket League is the game you love. So enjoy it instead of expecting it to be rewarding (i.e. gaining points, need to win). Expectations can ruin the experience.
Before a game, set aside your worries and just focus on doing your best and having fun. Play like a little kid and be totally immersed in the game with no other worries!
For all the people out there in a slump. Take your time to work on slumps and how to get through them. Don't get stuck in your emotion and give up!
Stick to your goals. Don’t let temporary emotions take you off track. Be committed for the long term.
Training your mind is hard and requires mindful attention in the proper direction. Coaching it requires trust, so please.. share a little. We are here to help :)
Pressure can only get to you if you let it. You have the choice to train your mind and body to stay focused and calm under pressure.
How to improve your consistency..?
To improve your mental health, add structure, discipline, and routine into your life. Structure brings order into your life, and order brings you peace of mind.
This this this.. become more mentally engaged. This means not spending hours just playing. Thats addiction, be engaged. There is a limit to being engaged, take a break and relax the mind and body.
Four ways to grow your love for your sport: 1. Become more mentally engaged while playing your sport. 2. Practice gratitude and appreciate all aspects of your sport. 3. Build friendships with your teammates. 4. Work hard to improve, succeed, and make memories.
It's hard but there is always something else to focus on. Why focus on what is not working?
Instead of complaining about how bad you’re playing, do something about it. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and do the things you need to do to fix your mistakes and play better.

Improving yourelf mentally, in and outside of the game, will make you more consistent. It is worth the time and effort just as much as practicing your sport.
Sports are 50% mental and 50% physical. You need to train your mind and body equally in order to reach your potential.
To find out how good a coach really is, see how his or her players are doing 10-20 years down the road. The best coaches help their players succeed in life beyond sports.
Motivation is expressed through effort, concentration, mental toughness, coachability, and good decisions. By observing these things, coaches can tell how motivated you actually are. Don't just say you're motivated. Prove it!
I think this one especially important for the players in the eSports scene. Do not make the game a distraction from your life. If all you have is the game you will care about it too much. Find the balance to get into the zone.
Becoming a successful athlete doesn’t guarantee happiness. There are many successful athletes who struggle with mental health. This is why athletes need to look for happiness in areas besides athletic success.
If you’re the hardest worker on your team, don’t go down to your teammates’ level. Push them to work harder and get on your level!
