A group of year 12 Newman College students have been spending their Saturday at Bede’s School participating in the regional heats of the UK Space Design Competition. They present their team’s design for a futuristic space vessel to the judges later today. Fingers crossed!
The year 12 Product Design students have been taking apart broken electronic products to see how they could be better designed for repair and recycling. Can you guess what the products once were?
Year 10 DT students have been doing some brilliant team design projects. In groups of four they have been coming up with innovative product ideas in response to the context of “survival”. It’s great to see the collaborative design work continue during online lessons!

The year 9 DT students are producing some brilliant design work for the pewter casting project. Well done to Elliot, Lydia, Freya, Bernardo and Etta.
Year 8 textiles students are busy making fabric poppies in preparation for a Remembrance Day display. Can’t wait to see the final display!

Delighted to donate our surplus stock from the Food dept to the Hangleton Food Bank, and to the Covid Commuity Kitchen, run by Wendy Nurse, who supply food to the vulnerable and key workers’ children during this crisis. Thanks to our amazing technician Debbie for organising this.

I’ve just dropped fifty laser cut visors off at Hove town hall to be distributed to frontline health workers. A massive ‘Thank You’ to all the potential wearers for their outstanding work serving our local community. @PatchamHigh @BrightonHoveCC @CNCSMsJarman
The CNCS laser cutters have been put to good use this morning making face visors for frontline health workers. This is the first batch of 40; more to come. Thanks to Patcham High’s DT department for the collaboration and to Kitronik for the designs. @Kitronik @PatchamHigh
