Cosmo was starving. It had been a few days since they last ate anything. "Yeah. . . ." Was all they could manage as they tried not to break form into a full-blown panic attack.
"Better. . . ." Cosmo murmured as they took a step back from Bobby. It was all too much. They felt undeserving of such kindness.
Bobby smiled then said "how is it feeling now?" As he checked their hands

Cosmo blinks. They can't even imagine a father type of figure that didn't yell and hit. They've only ever seen the worst of people.
