On my second shift at W1HQ for ARRL DX and the dayshift has been much better to me than the first night. Having a good run on 10 even with LP
Based on ARRL 10m raw scores, I’m #3 W4 and #1 for Tennessee in my category! Quite nice for an 11 hour effort in a 24 hour contest.
Only did saturday, but waited till end of contest to post results. 183k total score as an HP phone only for the 10m contest. Not bad for 11 hours of total op time. #hamradio #amateurradio
Must have missed this, but ARRL SS raw scores are out! #26 overall, #4 in call area 4, and #2 in delta division! Pretty happy for my first phone sweepstakes. Expect a write up soon!
Further proof that you really don’t need to be in the cloud unless you want to. aprs.fi is a robust service with good performance, and it’s running on essentially free servers (paying for power/maintenance of course)
The running cost isn't bad currently, as I'm making some money from selling the aprs.fi iOS app (mostly from the subscriptions). It runs on a pair of dumpster-dived Dell blades, 8 L5520 Xeon CPUs and 192G RAM + 1 TB SATA SSD each. Old-school.
November Sweepstakes results. Guest oped at a station in TN and got to play with legal limit, which was fun. Got the full sweep too.

CQWW RTTY raw scores are out! #4 world and #2 NA youth LP ain’t too bad for my first showing. Next year I’ll operate asissted. Nice to see familiar youth calls like @dj4mx and #wt5a.
Starting my prep for CQWW this month, is it worth it to get an 80m antenna up? I definitely don't have space for 160, but I could maybe get a good 80m dipole up if I can get more mults.
