Turnstones and Purple Sandpipers feeding together on the rock groynes at Southwold, Suffolk, early November 2025... but these birds are well adapted to this environment and the crashing waves of the incoming tide!

A Water Pipit, in poor light and breezy conditions on the West Scrape at Minsmere this week... a winter visitor to Suffolk and a long way north of its breeding areas in the high mountains of southern Europe! @RSPBMinsmere

Two fully-grown Swift chicks peering out of my nest box on 19th July, and last seen on 23rd July, I wonder where they are now? As Hamza Yassin showed on his recent BBC TV series Swift nestboxes can make a big contribution to the success of these amazing birds! @Natures_Voice

19th July 2025, and the juvenile Swifts in my nestbox are taking a keen interest in the outside world, watching a wasp, and pushing forwards as far as possible... it won't be long now before they leave their Suffolk home and the UK! @SoSSwifts @suffolkwildlife @Natures_Voice

This is what happens when a Bittern takes up residence in an area of reed beds in front of Island mere hide on the left the last 10 days. A GW Egret kept bothering the bittern by going into those reeds on the edge of the mere to fish. Excellent territorial behaviour response 😊👍
