A developer needs meaningful names: variables, tables, fields, forms.. and CSS classes/ids. They are one of the important things tying design to logic. Some themes will not set the body class slug, do it: you don't want page-id-29, page-contact is better right? :)

Misused WordPress Hell: A piece of JS in the cart page. Where does it come from? Code? Nope. Code Plugin! Turns out it has WPCode, Custom CSS & JS, Code Snippets etc (!). A DB search indicated WPCode under the name "checkbox" (!) . Lovely. This is a thing WP should have in core.
Playwright is quite the hot stuff now, it's quite ready for Python but it can also be managed from PHP! (Your own language: it matters, also easier to integrate with anything from WP to the big ones). You'll need nodejs etc. The composer library is @dev but so far so good :)
WordPress projects: as you, I've seen a lot of things. Myriad Plugins for a simple site, based on free/semi free builders that phase out or are not backwards compatible. Or heavily coded sites based on big themes. Half baked for whatever reason. Unneeded complexity..
As a coder you can't know or remember all. New language/frameworks/services/versions all the time. You know the concepts + basics. Then? You did books, you did Google/StackOverflow. Now you do AI: a superpowered Search Engine. Awesome, but just a tool built on our code #NoHype
