My talk @CUBoulderTCP on algorithmic accountability (and some very kind words from @pranesh)

Fascinating lecture by Prof. @MargotKaminski on human and algorithmic decision-making, notions of fairness, the "right to explantion" and, importantly, why and how we should regulate. Some of the smartest thinking around regulations: youtube.com/watch?v=QoK6m8… #ML #AI #GDPR #bias

My @CUBoulderTCP lab: 2/3 🇮🇳 post-F1 OPT from India 1/3 🇺🇸 citizen Not just biomedical labs will be affected... nearly every STEM field relies on foreign nationals. And citizens are often the source of illegal foreign ties! sciencemag.org/news/2020/06/f…

I am reading about an impending EO putting restrictions on J-1 & H-1B visas (as well as post-F1 OPT). Most academic labs in the US are like mine, and as I have said before, diversity is our strongest weapon against cancer, #COVID19, you name it. We should not go down this path!
