Today marks 30 years since the Northridge earthquake, which measured 6.7 on the Richter scale. The Caltech campus only suffered minor damage. The 1994 Big T yearbook features the Seismology team, including Dr. Kate Hutton in S. Mudd and heavy media presence along Wilson Avenue.
#OTD: Throop College hosted the Sophomore Hop in Glendale’s Hotel Maryland, where students and faculty members enjoyed punch and danced the foxtrot, one-step, and waltz. This dance card, keeping track of the dances and names of partners, was recently donated to the Archives.

"Becoming Caltech: Building a Research Community, 1910–1930" tells the story of Caltech's early growth through historical documents, objects, photographs, and film. The exhibit is now open in the Beckman Museum every Tuesday and Thursday, 11 a.m.–1 p.m, through December 21.
