When I first started this account, the point of it was to do recreations of Marvel Captain Marvel covers, replacing the titular hero with the original CM (hence the name). I only ever made 3 before just sorta morphing into a general fan account. Anyway, here are those covers...

Billy is still a foster kid living with Freddy, Darla, Eugene, and Pedro at the Vasquez's. The Wizard is still the Mamaragan version, not the old bearded white man. What's been retconned out of existence is Billy being an asshole 😉 Oh, and Freddy's got black hair again.
I just had the opportunity to read the new SHAZAM! #1 by Waid and Mora. While still set in the current continuity, this is the Cap and Billy we've been waiting a decade for! This weekend is the LAST CALL for orders on this book so get to your LCS and tell them you want a copy!
50 years ago today, DC revived Captain Marvel with the release of SHAZAM! #1. 44 years ago today, I was born. Coincidence? Yes.
Does anyone know what Earth (AKA what story) this goateed Captain Marvel is from?
Just picked up a copy of the supersized Absolute Multiversity (DCvVamps there for size comparison). The whole story's pretty good, but mainly I got it to own a supersized version of NEW THUNDERWORLD ADVENTURES #1.
HOLY SHIT! Mark Waid and Dan Mora on SHAZAM! seires! I don't think we'll be lucky enough to actually get a series about CAPTAIN MARVEL, but with Waid and Mora at the helm we'll have our best chance at a book that FEELS like Captain Marvel!
I gotta be honest, 6 issues in and with each one I have less and less of an idea of what this comic is supposed to be about. I truly have no idea what's going on.
Every once in a while I change my Facebook profile pic to this just so I can watch all my idiot friends make the same "that's not Brie Larson" or "why is Shazam mislabeled?" jokes every single time. It's stupid but it makes me laugh.
For me it was the Power of Shazam GN. I'd seen him before, like he appeared in Funeral For A Friend and stuff, but I never read any stories with him. I'm not even sure I knew his name. I just thought it was cool the book was hardcover. He immediately became my favorite character.

In stores this Wednesday! DC publishes a comic with "Captain Marvel" on the cover for the first time since 1995's Power of Shazam #1!
