Fiddlers played & we danced much to the amusement of the Indians, but I went to bed hungry again, something I intend to change today.

I asked Cameahwait about purchasing 20 horses. He said maybe..I said..Did you just say Neigh-be? Is that horse for yes? Weird. No smile.

Last night got to second Shoshone village. Colter was waiting w/ a note from @2LTBillyC, He said hello..Oh, & buy horses to cross Rockies.

Sent hunters out early. Gotta get some meat to keep the Indians happy and in a trading mood.

Indian woman carrying our baggage stopped...I asked Cameahwait what was up...he said, Oh, she's having her 4th child...she'll catch up.

I gave each Indian w/ us a pint of corn. I could have used a pint of something else.

You ever go back to a special place to find it less special?..We Stopped at source of Missouri. Men stopped & drank all dramatic-like.

So now I'm hungry & cold. Yeah, August 26th..1/4 in. of ice on the water!....Ice! On! The! Water! Saddle up, let's keep moving.

Last night hunters arrived w/ 3 deer..I gave to woman & children. Good idea at the time, but this morning my stomach is kicking me for it.

Ysday evening I sat down & smoked w/ chiefs..are they men of their word?. Cameahwait gave me an 'aw shucks' look..had planned to abandon us.

Charbano's a F!kg idiot! He found out Indians plan to leave us stranded tomorrow. Mentions it all nonchalantly, knew about it ALL DAY. < ! >

Horses loaded up & on the march before sunrise. Indians...present. Some w/ us..others flanking us, trying to get some food. #strategy

Wiser has a bout of cholic. Ordway gave him medicine..after only 1/2 hour he was better..well enough to ride MY horse anyway. I'll walk.

Indian just rode up & said one of my men is sick & can't continue. That'll stop us.

Happy to be back on our way, especially since a generous Indian offered to let me ride his horse..I feel nothing will stop us!

Set out w/ 12 loaded horses & a mule. Rest of our stuff carried by Indian women going w/ us. Not Sacajawea, tho...we got her a horse.

Mules cost an extra shirt handkerchief & a pair of leggings..but worth it. I got me one.

If you find yourself in the Rocky mountains w/ a Mandan ax, a knife, handkerchief & some paint..you've got yourself a horse..but not a mule.

Group of Indians arrived, headed to buffalo country..had extra horses...I had plan to relieve them of extra horses & trade goods..win/win.

My hunters came in w/ 3 deer. I gave it to the Indians who didn't have any food. I'm nice like that.
