With spring in full bloom it is a spectacle to see all the vibrant pops of colour throughout the Millennium Garden and woodland. Our tearoom is open for takeaways and outdoor eating, enjoy a variety of refreshments including made to order toasties or delicious homemade bakes.

At Castle Hill we have the longest Camellia hedge in Devon, which is starting to flower. We are currently open for walks Monday to Friday, 12-4pm, our tea room will be opening for takeaway food and drink at the end of March.

A great way to extend the flowering period of your herbaceous borders is to use spring flowering bulbs. This little crocus appears in late winter/spring as a violet flame above the brown earth. They open their petals on sunnier days, exposing a rich orange carpel and stamens.

Did you know that the Triumphal Arch is exactly half a mile as the crow flies from the house at Castle Hill?! It is also a popular backdrop for photographs for many couples who get married at Castle Hill and you can see why, the views across Devon are stunning.
Injecting a pop of colour into the gardens today is this Hamamelis x Intermedia Arnold Promise. Its common name is Witch Hazel and it has lovely fragrant yellow flowers during the winter. Adding some much needed colour to lift our spirits into the weekend.
