Momentum goes both ways. Don’t move, feel sluggish. Start moving, feel like moving a little more. Don’t talk, feel timid. Start chatting, conversation gets a little easier. Don’t ship, feel stuck. Start creating, ideas begin to flow.

The educational system that’s burning teachers out is the same one that’s responsible for the fact that so many children can’t read proficiently. It’s the system.

YES!!!!

Sometimes I think I'm bad at my job as an instructional tech coach when people are like, "How can I integrate technology into this activity more?" and I'm just like, "Maybe don't?" Tech opens some really cool doors, but not all of those doors benefit focus or learning.

If a book sucks, stop reading it. The best readers actually quit a lot of books. Life is too short to read books you don’t enjoy reading.

Stir up curiosity and conversation with a "Baffling Blur." Blur parts of an image and invite students to make educated guesses about what has been blurred. 🧐 Keep the original image handy so you can reveal it. You can use Canva to blur areas of an image.

Love this idea to foster the home/school connection!

Every week, my students are going to send an email to their home adults detailing what we did in class, their grade, and what they need to do in order to maintain/make progress. As an accountability piece, it connects stakeholders and puts the responsibility on the student.

Hear me out: A show like “Shark Tank,” but instead of investors there are 5 teachers from different grades, subjects and backgrounds. And people are pitching the “newest” ED tech and teaching strategies, and the teachers have to agree if it is worth the time and money.

If we want students to read for enjoyment, shouldn't we let them read what they enjoy? Reading is reading.

Great advice!

One common happiness stumbling block? Making a tough decision. To decide between apples and oranges, to weigh pros and cons…it’s difficult. To navigate this issue in my own life, I consider these key questions. A thread.

Love these Keep hacks! Keep is one of the most under-appreciated tools in the Google Suite!

Loved @jmattmiller saying that #ChatGPT and #AI can be great tools for education but to be effective we must use them with a teacher brain and a teacher heart! #AI is a great tool, but it can't replace our humanity! #WakeletCommunityWeek

This holds students accountable AND supports those who might be struggling to grasp the concept!

Absolutely love this! If you work with seniors or college students, an opportunity like this is such a wonderful investment.

I’ve always struggled with how to close up my time with my seniors, and I think I found something I like this year: an invitation to let me treat them to a coffee and catch up whenever (and if) they want. I hope some of them will take me up on it!

This would be such a fun way to review during the last couple weeks of school!

Have you explored Canva's Bingo Card Generator? 🎯 Add an element of fun to the classroom while promoting learning. 🤩 Use it to review vocabulary, reinforce concepts, or assess comprehension. Here's how to streamline the process and reduce your prep time in 5 steps 👇

If you serve multiple schools, you understand the logic (and seeming insanity) of leaving an hour before your next appointment for a 5 minute drive. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck in traffic for 30-45 minutes due to staggered release times and multiple schools close together!
