Okay, cat's out of the bag. New project I've been distracted by is to make self-marking google forms for A level. I've done all of the year 12 topics for AQA, year 13 to follow. I reckon this is worth a retweet. sciencedoctor.school.blog/google-forms/
Love that my son’s school does a ‘Dress in your PJs day’ for World Book Day. So much less pressure on families ❤️❤️❤️
Hi @maternity_money. I have been trying to use your really useful calculator for a few days now but when I try to log in it says there is a problem. If I try to start a new calculation it doesn’t work. Any ideas?
What do your ks3 reports actually tell parents? Do you report a progress “level”? Do you still use comments? If so, what are these based on? Shares appreciated! #cogscisci #ks3 #edutwitter
With all this talk of summer schools, extended school days and repeated years, it's perhaps worth reminding ourselves of the evidence of impact from @EducEndowFoundn: buff.ly/2N9aDTo
Me and the HOD discussing best way to teach charge to KS3. How do other people teach it? If it's a property - how do you get around the fact that "charge does work" etc, as a property like "shiny" doesn't make sense if "shiny does work" #ChatPhysics
Wow. Department of Health said - on the record - the Guardian story about the regulator not approving mass tests in schools was ‘not true’. The regulator has just sent a statement saying it is true 😬
The Department for Education has confirmed mass testing in schools – including the roll out to primary school staff next week – will continue as planned after denying reports the programme had not been formally approved by the regulator schoolsweek.co.uk/dfe-says-mass-…
For those doing Live lessons - do you record the lesson? Or have a non live section for students who don't attend? What do you do about non-attendance? Secondary school please
I've compiled some tips from our research and interim visits on what works well in remote education. Bottom line: keep it simple. gov.uk/government/pub…
If schools have large numbers of kids in every day, transmission rates won’t fall so all the other children will be at home until May, which will be catastrophic for non-key worker families.
Williamson clearly says that only ONE parent needs to be a critical worker in order to access a school place for their child. (We have results from @TeacherTapp coming up on how many schools are following this at 3.30pm)
Any moves to remote education must be matched by support to make sure every child has access to internet data. 📱 📶 One million children can only access the internet on mobile data. It's time for mobile networks to make educational sites data-free, to end the #DigitalDivide
In his address to the country @BorisJohnson has just said while children at school are unlikely to get ill they act as a vector for transmission within the community. We have been shouting this at Johnson for months. He says it as if it is a new discovery. Too late. #Covid19UK
The fact that I wore a cloth face covering when I entered any indoor public space like a shop, made it much less likely that I would transmit the virus to others. The cloth face masks are to look after other people. The PPE is to protect me from my patients.
The word ‘Tory’, commonly used to refer to a member of the UK Conservative Party, comes from the Irish Gaelic word ‘tóraidhe’ meaning outlaw or robber.
This 👇 received some awful inset on so-called differentiation last week - from our LA no less! One suggestion was to let kids choose their learning objs and they had a list of about 15?! So out of touch with no consideration for workload. More advice like below is needed!
Scaffolding What it’s not: ❎ creating different tasks for children ❎ making the work easier ❎ catering for a perceived learning style What it is: ✅ adapting a challenging task to enable success ✅ reducing cognitive load ✅ gradually removed
The kind of Twitter exchange so many of us want this morning.
