When you lose a patient who do you talk to? My non-medical friends don't understand and it feels like whining. Went thru my "list" and just kept to myself in my car (thought my hubby was in a meeting)
Remodeling the bathroom feels a bit like the "if you give a mouse a cookie" kind of thing. If you do the floor you need a new wax ring. If you buy a faucet it will be missing a plate. When you put on the pulls the screws will be too short...that kind of thing. But it's a beaut!
Struggling to "fake it til I make it" today (and yesterday)..
I had to work today so I set up Easter baskets for my boys. They didn't even notice. Makes me sad.
So much alarm fatigue in the NICU. Me explaining it to my husband: imagine a truck backing up every few minutes. Always beeping. Sometimes there's someone standing behind it trying to get run over. Never know when but you have to be ready at a moment's notice. So draining.
Please please don't let the stomach flu get passed around our house. 1 down, let's hope there's not 4 to go🤞
Have an NNP that obviously misses bedside nursing...they came in today while I was getting started on removing a PICC. They casually start removing the line then when finished asks if there is anything else I need🤣 then says"you probably didn't need me to do this either!"🥴
My niece had an emergency appendectomy that did not start until 7:45 pm. Their insurance denied her staying overnight for pain management. She wasn't stable until nearly midnight and it was too late to go to any pharmacy. So they kept her. And it was denied. Ugh!
Ever have one of those nights where you just feel out of sorts? For no reason? Trying to not take it out on anyone.
So grateful for my friends I made in nursing school. They are the only ones that know what you went through. They were there when my brother died. And I was so excited today to hug the two sons from one who was told she would never have kids. These are deep, true friendships.
First sunny and 60 day since October. Spent some time in my garden and I can't wait for this to be the norm.

Smash burgers were a hit tonight! So rare everyone in the house eats the same thing and no one makes a nasty face when it's served.
One of mine has bipolar 2 and stopped his meds a while back. Finally admitted maybe that's not such a good thing. Hope they can get back on track soon.
If my nursing day was judged on time management today I would have failed miserably. Lost PIVs, gave a bath, cleaned up projectile vomit and changed many poopy diapers. I do love NICU❤️
Feeling like a failure when I see/hear of everyone else's grown kids getting jobs and moving out. Mine are working but can't afford to move out and move up with life. Where did I go wrong?
Today was a rough day for an introvert nurse. One pod. 8 infants. 3 criers. 2 withdrawing. 4 sets of parents. 1 in iso. And a PA fellow shadowing me. No moment of peace. Gonna sleep well tonight.
Our neighbor is on his last days. 💔 He has been more of a father figure to us than our own since they moved here. I hope he knows how much we appreciate his loving kindness.
