Confirmed. The Tories are now going to either elect their third female leader and Prime Minister or Britain’s first black Prime Minister. Labour, meanwhile, cling desperately to their white men from north London.

Poor Ed. Lib Dems flip flop so much, they barely know what they do support. Or don’t.

#conservativeleadership candidates: 50% women, 50% ethnic minority in first round. First vote leaves 57% women, 43% ethnic minority. @conservatives demonstrate strong beliefs in equality and opportunity. In fact, only one white man will go through to the next stage.

The other day I was told that racism in 2022 is the same as it was in the 1960s- just ‘less crude’. They cannot be seeing the same things I see. 🤪

As usual, the Council waffles around the subject, promising lots but never actually delivering anything. If we had £1 for every Lib Dem platitude, it would have been sorted by now. glosnews.com/articles/call-…

So lost are some on the British left --Jolyon Maugham, Nadine White, etc-- that they need to be reminded that to argue minority ethnic Conservatives have betrayed their own identity is its own form of racism newstatesman.com/quickfire/2022…

It’s absurd to say the Conservative Party isn’t ready for a non-white leader

The suggestion that ethnic minority Tories have betrayed their identity is its own form of racism.

There are now more people from minority backgrounds running to lead Britain's Conservative Party than have ever run to lead Labour, sat in Labour Cabinet, been Labour minister in the Lords, or a Labour MEP. Diversity is not everything but this is awkward for the identitarian left

We’re just calling out hypocrisy. Just like we called out racism in @cheltlibdems. Oddly enough, all the Lib Dem councillors went quiet when we did.

Of all the things your lot have been up to during the recent crisis, I didn't think I’d see you defending an MP swearing at protestors including a woman clutching a photo of her dead husband. Happy to ask the people of Cheltenham if they agree if you like? I'm off out in a bit.

The thin-skinned Lib Dem candidate is always here to chat. Unless you ask him difficult questions. He flip-flops like that. 🤣🤣🤣

Great work to address some of the anti social behaviour that sadly comes with big events. Working with partners on ideas should yield results.

Classic Lib Dem hypocrisy. Their right hand never knows what the left is doing! 🤣🤣🤣

A big shout out to everyone who so generously chipped in time, effort or materials for this evening’s @DIYSOS The Big Build in Charlton Kings - on BBC1 now. Well done everyone! 👍

It’s been a week since @cheltlibdems sent a letter to someone. That’s all they can do. Send letters. To anyone. No ideas. No vision. No record of achievement. No plan. Just protest letters. What a waste of a vote. 🤷‍♀️

* Doesn’t apply to racism in @cheltlibdems.

Happy #pridemonth2022! 🏳️‍🌈 This Pride, we're proud to celebrate achievements of LGBT+ people in the UK and beyond, but we must also fight for true equality and stand against hatred and discrimination wherever it arises. We cannot let hard-fought progress slide backwards.

A QC and a professor of law embellish a misleading headline about a speech on social mobility. The article is about recognising social mobility more widely than in “elite pathways”, not discouraging people from aiming high. Twitter is a degrading medium for this sort of thing
