In my experience (30+ years of doing knee surgery) most degenerate menisci and post-meniscectomy knees are not associated with SIFK. SIFK is spontaneous focal subchondral metabolic (neurovascular) issue of uncertain origin, often recurrent and migratory. Needs more work!
