Very happy to announce my story "The Broadway Bridge Troll" has been accepted for publication in Myths Reborn: Tales of Cryptids & Dark Folklore coming from October Nights Press. @1031NightsPress
My 9yo just said, "Since no one else can do what you do exactly the way you do it, everything you do is perfect." And I'm going to be thinking about that for a while.
My 8yo just asked if soldiers used muskets in the 1990s.
I'm on a quest to read every survival story I can find-- wilderness, apocalyptic, etc. This one is a classic of the genre. A woman wakes to find everyone else has vanished and she's the last living human. Haunting and quietly tense with deep things to say about modern life.
Whoa. Looking at this profile after a long time away. Got some serious blocking/muting to attend to. So many porn bots and *yawn* irate political clickbait.
Watched The Fellowship of the Ring with my son and was really empathizing with the characters grief after Gandalf fell from the Bridge of Khazad-dûm and then my son said, "Gandalf's last word was 'fools'."
They laughed at him and called him names, and wouldn't let him join in any games. Reindeer culture is savage.
Happy news! I have happy book news! #kidlit #WritingCommunity #writercommunity
I think the throw pillows in my house are breeding.
Next week I'm going to turn 46 and just now the lady at the store said "no offense but are you 55?" so I got that going for me.
it's impossible to pick a favorite Cormac McCarthy passage but this is up there. RIP
"He stood at the window of the empty cafe and watched the activities in the square and he said that it was good that God kept the truths of life from the young as they were starting out or else they'd have no heart to start at all." ~ Cormac McCarthy
The end of The Road by Cormac McCarthy, as beautiful a paragraph as has ever been made by hand
I wrote an obituary for my literary father, Cormac McCarthy for @Spectator. Cormac McCarthy is gone — but his works remain brilliantly alive thespectator.com/book-and-art/c…
I reread The Road once a year and each time I can hardly stand it, it's so damned true. Rest in peace Cormac McCarthy.
Cormac McCarthy 🔥♥️
No novelist in my lifetime is as beloved as Cormac McCarthy. I've never seen an outpouring of grief, respect, and adoration like this at an author's passing. There is hope in this for all of us who worship the written Word.
Just give me a minute, buddy. 4yo: Hey Google, set a timer for 1 minute.
Making my students clean my classroom. Playing "It's a hard knock life" in the background.
