In a first-of-its-kind law, all California public high schools will now spend a week teaching students about the right to join or form a union, job protections for minors, how to defend against workplace abuses, and more. contracosta.news/2023/10/02/ort…



Fealty to institutions, especially the workplace, is a respectability politic all its own from which we as a people would benefit greatly of being disabused. As Ella Baker said, “a strong people don’t need a strong leader.”


It’s deeply unfortunate that we live in a world that makes people feel weird or naïve for genuinely wanting (and needing, for our survival as mammals) to connect.

Do NOT quit to avoid being fired. Quitting waived important rights, such as a wrongful termination claim. It makes it much harder to get unemployment. And if you quit, your employer is much less motivated to offer severance.
