Some 600 immigrant kids have been sent to federal custody by ICE this year. A 17-year-old was detained at a traffic stop because officers couldn’t make contact with his dad, who is deaf. Another kid ended up in a shelter after making a wrong turn. propublica.org/article/ice-de…

Civilization depends on functioning ecosystems. Those are disappearing quickly. Protecting the systems we depend on isn’t “throttling civilization.” It’s preventing the collapse of the foundation it sits on.

We cannot make the planet a zoological preserve where we harvest no wood, mine no coal, and throttle civilization and raise energy costs 100x whilst leaving oil and coal and methane in the ground.

H5N1 just leveled up. Scientists just pulled viable H5N1 2.3.4.4b out of soft-bodied ticks feeding on gulls. Up to 99.989 percent identity. Not passive contamination. A potential new vector. Influenza surveillance just got a lot more complicated.

Couldn’t come at a worse time with anti science lunatics in the White House and a U.K. government focused solely on the economy and infighting.

Poilievre isn't talking to these people. He's talking to the people who will decide in six weeks whether he will keep the Tory leadership. I literally wrote the book on Poilievre, it was a best-seller for two months. The CBC and other outlets dropped the cone of silence on it.

“Pierre Poilievre is spinning out faster than a Ferris wheel without its nuts! That’s been his entire career - trying to block out actual criticism with a circus show!” Bonnie Critchley is back in politics and she’s no-holds-barred 🇨🇦 #cndpoli #ABpoli youtu.be/o2RW-_Jmtjk?si…

Costa Rica didn’t “double its rainforest.” It increased forest cover….mostly young secondary regrowth on abandoned pastures. Old-growth rainforest takes centuries to millennia to return. Calling this a template for the world is PR, not ecology.

Costa Rica, once home to rampant logging, has now almost doubled the size of its rainforest. They turned it all around within a generation. It can be done. Protect people and the planet. #ActOnClimate #biodiversity #deforestation #rewilding #solutions

What exactly is stopping Canada from doing this? Perhaps our 77 Billionaires who if they paid 3% more in taxes could pay for our entire dental program? (and still pay less a % than you do)

When the ultra-wealthy sequester, without significant taxes, most of the free cash in a society, there is no room left for discretionary spending, and often not even enough for basic living. The wealthy create the peasant class for their own benefit.

Around 70% of the U.S. economy depends on consumer spending. As wealth concentrates in the richest 10%, the rest of America can’t afford to buy enough to keep the economy running. This is a huge problem — and even America’s most powerful CEOs are starting to sound the alarm.
