Note: on #ConfederateHistoryMonth: just a friendly reminder that confederates committed treason to stupidly attack a country with 3 times their manpower and ALL of the military industry, primarily to defend the right to own, trade, beat and rape other humans.
Once is an anomaly. Twice is a coincidence. Three times is a pattern. Four times is enough. We've had enough of harassment and coverups. We have failed to make the C++ community safe. It's time for change. Leadership must prioritize safety.
In today's STL maintainer meeting: "Is 'squirrel' an emoji, or is there only 'chipmunk'?"
Every time someone in a meeting says "is everyone happy with" / "do we all want to" and I'm facepalming to the sound of crickets:
My draft branch of the Standard Library Modules proposal (import std;) is ready for interested users to try out! I’m running a “bug bash” for the next two weeks: github.com/StephanTLavave…
Hey, I just met you. And this is crazy, but SG9 just forwarded `views::maybe` to LEWG for C++26. @sdowney
People: "Why isn't the compiler open-source?" Me: "We don't want anyone to know we named a function `member_d_pre_init__L_SKIP_MBRINIT`."
VS 2022 17.2 and VS 2019 16.11.14 are now available! Read the announcement by @CoderCasey, MSVC’s STL Completes /std:c++20: devblogs.microsoft.com/cppblog/msvcs-…

Execution and Static Analysis Support for MSVC on Compiler Explorer - C++ Team Blog
Compiler Explorer is a popular resource for visualizing the assembly output of various compilers, trying out different compiler versions and flags, and testing many popular libraries. We’re pleased...
Had an exciting "Who's on first?" moment while explaining P2168 to my skip manager this morning before finally making it clear that @Cor3ntin has been working on coroutines during quarantine.
With two full weeks to spare!
Just had the most important talk that a man can have with his teenage son: tabs vs. spaces.
"Atomics default to sequential consistency because it's the only [memory ordering] that humans can understand." -- @StephanTLavavej
Probably the biggest thing C++ could do to make the language more powerful is to make functions (not function pointers, *functions* -- including overload sets and function templates) first class citizens of the language. The lack of functional composition in C++ is deadly. #cpp
C++ is a language of many subtitles.
Objection! A Language Lawyer Story 🔊 for my awful voice acting
I wrote a short blog post about the first user-visible bits of C++20 Ranges support appearing in Visual Studio 2019 version 16.6: devblogs.microsoft.com/cppblog/initia…
