This article again 🤣 but depth over breadth 🧮💕

An important study for all schools that have gone tech heavy. Typed notes = ⬆️ more notes Hand written notes = ⬆️ more learning link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Love note taking data!

Study on typed vs. handwritten notes for college students. "We conclude that handwritten notes are more useful for studying and committing to memory than typed notes, ultimately contributing to higher achievement.."link.springer.com/article/10.100…

A polarizing topic for sure! What are y’all’s thoughts?

Excited for today’s book launch. Hopefully this book will help folks be prepared for the rapid changes coming in education and work (and be in a position to shape them for the better).

Teachers asked me for a picture of Tier 1 learning. This was the result. Something allowing for teacher autonomy & creativity, but also providing years worth of growth impact built into it to make learning happen & close the gaps. Eventually turned it into a book.

I understand the thought process here, but I’m not sure the questions will make sense if given before any context.

Why are math texts (word problems) written with the question at the end??? The question should be placed at the beginning, so that while reading the rest of the text, you have context & a sense of what to look for to solve it. We need to invite Ss to read the question first.🙂

I taught arithmetic and geometric sequences almost exclusively with visuals this year and I don’t think I’ll ever look back

How do you see the visual pattern growing? 👀 📐 #visualpattern #growingpattern

A great visual of the immense effect of those low grades! I’d love to hear your thoughts on grading!!

Just curious--anyone using the percentage scale ever think to themselves: "Those 60 levels of failure really came in handy this school year" ?

For Teacher Appreciation Week, May 6-10: Chocolate and Starbucks cards are great, but please consider reaching back in time to a teacher who made a difference in your life. Tell them what you appreciate/d about them specifically, how they helped you and what you’re doing now…

I experienced a lot of direct, explicit instruction. I was an A student. I memorized the steps, and was paralyzed as a problem-solver. In other words, I did math without understanding math, right into university. It's one of the greatest tragedies of my schooling career.

Maybe the answer to “when are we going to use this?” is: You might not. But people who build bridges, predict financial outcomes, invent vaccines, engineer defense systems, operate on you, develop your games, design stadiums are using math. It’s not random. Be aware.

Philosophically, I’m 100% behind this. Practically, though, we have a long way to go to convince society!

This!! The discrepancy between ease of use with PPT and Word vs Slides and Docs is huge!

Google does many things well, but, in 2024, you would think Google Docs, Slides, Forms, etc. would have decent built in equation editors (don't get me started on the one in docs 😏 & Equatio is no longer free 😐). They've had 18 yrs to work on that 😕. Math teachers have enough…

I always make our warmup with the date. Today: a rhombus has diagonals of 4 and 9. Find the lengths of the sides and the angles formed by the sides. AND THE SIDE LENGTH WAS 4.9 AND THE ANGLE MEASURE OF ONE OF THE RIGHT TRIANGLES WAS 24°! 4.9 24 4/9/24 Serendipity

If a student turns something in late, it doesn’t mean the student has less understanding of the content, assignments turned in on time doesn’t mean the student knows the content more. A simple leadership tip: ‘If' a student learns should be more important than 'when.'
