I visited with @ParishSheriff 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 today and took a tour of their Emergency Operations Center. The community will be greatly served by this facility during/after future catastrophic events.
What an amazing group of people! It was an honor to join the 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮 yesterday at their annual meeting.

A joint investigation by our Anti-Fraud Team and @LAStatePolice has resulted in the arrest of a Monroe man who is accused of staging crashes to collect insurance payments. 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵…
It was an honor to be in Mississippi today, joining insurance commissioners from other states who face many of the same challenges as we do in Louisiana. Thank you to 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘆 and the @MSInsuranceDept for hosting this important conference.
My office is working to finalize a benchmark that makes sense for homeowners and insurers, so that homeowners can benefit from the decrease in risk that comes with a FORTIFIED Roof.
The next opportunity to apply for a stronger roof grant will start this Wednesday at 8 am. You only have one week to apply for 1,000 new grants.
More than 4,000 homes have fortified roofs thanks to LFHP grants. This means that more than 6,000 FORTIFIED roofs were installed without grant assistance. That’s exactly what the program was designed to do—use grants to serve as a catalyst for private market adoption.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to our partners in the legislature for their strong, bipartisan support of the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program. Together, we are building a stronger, safer Louisiana.
Just over a year ago, we had about 1,000 FORTIFIED roofs across the state. Today, we have surpassed 10,000—an increase faster than any other state in the nation. This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to our commitment to building resiliently.
