Blackstone Makes First Bet on Manufactured Housing

Blackstone Group LP has made its first bet on manufactured housing by buying a portfolio of communities sold by Tricon Capital Group Inc., according to people with knowledge of the matter.

Several structural tailwinds in manufactured housing biz: (1) GSEs to revive secondary market in MH loans in 2019; (2) Site-built premium at historical highs and rising; and (3) 'trailer park' stigma likely to fade in medium/long-term as communal benefits become widely accepted.
