This is so true. I weep for my primary care colleagues who are really struggling at the moment. We as a country are letting the NHS slip through our fingers
Dear Santa, I would like to put in my Christmas List as a GP with many, many years experience. I don't need much, but my patients do. Here's my list

Our paper is out! Collaborative work investigating hand injuries presenting to 28 UK centres during lockdown, and most importantly, all 70+ collaborators cited authors Stayed tuned for part 2! open access: sciencedirect.com/science/articl… @BartsBoneJoint @BartsBRC @ndorms @BSSHand
Resonating strongly with this opening slide from Prof Richard Turner (general surgeon, Hobart) talking about the need to redefine resilience as the ability to speak up or change our environments, *not* the ability to absorb endless amounts of unacceptable behaviour. #RANZCOG23
Thanks to a specialised nerve block technique, patients can now undergo hand and wrist surgery at Minehead Community Hospital. This approach enhances convenience for patients, reduces waiting times, and the risk of cancellations due to higher priority emergency operations💙
On the subject of sexual misconduct in surgery @RoshanaMN put her finger on it exactly: “If the good guys don’t know about it, how are they going to help stop the bad guys”? Thanks to Stryker for an inspiring day with the Women’s Network.
Doctors either accept declining pay for another 14 years despite same hours, same responsibility; or they leave the NHS, or they negotiate with the employer (state) which means striking if state won’t negotiate. None of these options are good for the NHS.
Great work from a great hand surgeon. Well done Tim!

Another excellent piece by Camilla Cavendish in the Weekend FT who actually seems to understand the nurses situation, unlike several other commentators…
Camilla Cavendish: How will you protect the patients if you’re on a picket line? I ask a nurse friend. “It’s funny,” she muses. “We are too important to strike; but not important enough to be properly paid” on.ft.com/3WSCvKR
