Asking a CEO of a bank what they think of #Bitcoin is like asking the CEO of a taxi company what they think of Uber.

Sounds good, but lets strive for a stablecoin that doesn’t rely on someone on stage assuring us of something

Craig Sellars, founder of Tether assures us that Tethers are backed by USD at the North American Blockchain conference.

I'm saying that when the friggin' token to pay dentists with is already worth $700 million and their own roadmap shows them launching in over a year from now, then what we're seeing is a speculative mania above all else.

Use of the word “FUD” has become associated with defensiveness and partisanship. Simple facts that make your favorite thing look bad are not FUD. Critical thinking is not FUD. Crypto investing doesn’t demand religious adherence.

Over the last day I’ve asked several people close to banks if banks are indeed planning to begin using Ripple’s token, XRP, in a serious way, which is what investors seem to assume when they buy in at the current XRP prices. This is a sampling of what I heard back:

From my experience with historical datasets, young coins produce unreliable results as a few whales can manipulate prices. Mature coins (3yrs+) produce better more organic results. However of these XRP was an outlier in that results were erratic - implied price manipulation IMO.

1/ If $BTC were to stay at $15,350, whenever $XRP is > $3.23 it implies @ripple having a network value greater than #Bitcoin’s when all units of both #cryptocurrencies have been issued.

To show what we are up against, here's the graph against the top 3 currencies. As you can see, we have our work cut out for us. It's unclear to me why XRP has this many transactions as banks don't use it. ETH is all about ICOs and crypto-kitties, so that makes sense.

Captain Obvious statement: this has coincided with a) globalization and b) the Internet.) A new, borderless system of money and value exchange gives us the opportunity to take this to the next level. Nationalists and Luddites want to prevent that. Don’t let them.

3/ Anything about $XRP can be changed at the whims of Ripple the company. Anything about $IOTA can be changed by IOTA Foundation. None of their properties, whatever they may be, are real. They are not rigid, because they do not rest on a decentralized foundation.

Due to the record-breaking acceleration of Bitcoin's hashrate in 2017, the days of work a miner with 100% of current hashpower would need to rewrite the entire blockchain dropped from 270 to 200. bitcoin.sipa.be H/T @pwuille
