Hilarious! It never gets old!

A little PSA about ASL for ‘Thank you’! I’ve had all of these signed to me accidentally haha. And when I sign thank you to non signers, sometimes they thought I was blowing a kiss to them. T_T #ASL #AmericanSignLanguage

The last few months @AnneliesKusters and I have often been in meetings/conferences/reviewed articles where hearing (sometimes non-signing) people repeatedly emphasize that some effort must be “deaf-led” which is necessary to “empower” deaf communities. Co-authored thread (1/8)

It is indeed a heartwarming commercial with some #ASL in it! Thank you, @jimkyte for the share. GO, @TeamCanada, GO! #WeAllPlayForCanada #Tokyo2020

A great article! It is among the several reasons why I left academia. It hit home for me too.

I talked with @TheMindHears about how my job search challenged my ideas about where I wanted my career to go. Like a lot of disabled people, I thought universities were the only accessible option - turns out I only thought that because of lack of exposure to other options!

Interpreter tax: amount of time spent each week on mitigating regulations imposed by sign language interpreting services, educating non-signing colleagues about limitations of sign language interpreting, doing interpreting admin, prepping and briefing interpreters.

It doesn’t only apply to academia, but also in business and other fields. Great 🧵

#ExtractiveAllyship means using deaf people as informants, assistants +short-term hires, but hiring hearing people for long-term research and academic positions. This is not limited to academe, it's a widespread symptom of #audism in many fields.

#EvaLSQ, c’est plus qu’un système d’évaluation des compétences en LSQ. C’est un outil par excellence pour les employeurs! — EvaLSQ is more than just an LSQ assessment tool. It is a great decision-making tool for employers!

This! It happens just too often!

In competitions for attention or money, CODAs will utilize hearing privilege to win out over deaf competitors. They do this by talking. Using phones. Networking.

It's exhausting making these sacrifices for people who should know better. @chrisunkim “[P]eople pay to come see my work. I’m an activist. I’m an empowered woman, but in my family, I’m not. I’m less than. That experience is very common for Deaf people." bit.ly/34TGbmf

This is great! Ozzy, congratulations!

It is both an honour and a privilege to be named Canada’s first female Minister of Finance. I am eager to continue our govts work of helping 🇨🇦s from coast to coast to coast get back on their feet. Together, we will ensure Canada’s economy bounces back from these difficult times.
