Mayor Bowser has declared the month of October 2025 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Washington, DC. We are proud to honor survivors, remember loved ones lost, and advance screening and education efforts that save lives.

The Mayor’s Office on Women’s Policy and Initiatives (MOWPI) invites residents to "Know Your Value and Get Paid". This training will support women who more than ever, need the tools to succeed in advocating for pay equity as we return to work.

The Mayor's Office on Women's Policy and Initiatives (MOWPI) in partnership with the Mayor's Office on Returning Citizens Affairs (MORCA) invites women returning citizens and their families to join us for a wage negotiation workshop.

MOWPI attended Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC's Spill the Tea: Reclaiming My Voice. Together event at Shaw Library recently. Conversations were held about health and community and how to effectively use our voices to advocate.

Today, we come together to vow never to forget 9/11. We remember the Washingtonians whose lives ended at the Pentagon and on Flight 77, including 3 DCPS students and their teachers. We thank our first responders for their bravery and service—on that day and every day since.

Yesterday, we celebrated women getting the right to vote. We celebrated women who lead. But we also recognized that, in DC, the work for full equality continues. Only through statehood will we control our own destiny. That’s the Women’s Equality Day that I see in our future.

Right now, it's important that we show up for our restaurants and local entrepreneurs—and Summer Restaurant Week is a great opportunity to do just that. There are three more days to enjoy delicious three-course menus in every ward. 🔎ramw.org/restaurantweek
