Question for the people who made it to SiliConSJ this weekend: am I wrong, or did the pictures I see make it seem like this event had something resembling MFBA energy? Have we found our replacement event?
Yes! Booths were mostly for people who were selling things. And not necessarily things they made. There were a few featured maker booths, but there wasn't an obvious way for someone who wants to show off a project to participate.
There were tables available that were cheaper than 10x10s, and if you were a fan group or nonprofit, you could apply for one (I assume to be provided free). So probably if a few makers went in as a group with a theme, it could happen. The vibe I got was pretty open to feedback.
It wasn't clear to me how to bring maker projects as an individual family non commercial booth. I would have considered bringing the humanoids given we are local.
I will say it was a joy to relax and attend #SiliConSJ. Had been bringing robots to our bay area events like #RobotsOnIce Sunnyvale, #RobotBlockParty at Circuit Launch, and next year #RoboGames 2023 are coming back to the bay area!
It's great sometimes to just go to an event instead of presenting or showing things at an event.
