Making blankets during this time together - find these moments while you off of school to do things with family - cherish and take advantage of this time for that purpose.
Teaching is a ministry, an act of love. I will never be as effective as I can be if I am here because it is my job and instead of trying to impact kids’ lives. Let’s commit to teaching in a way this year that keeps that in mind!
We say we believe a lot of things in education and about students - but we need to examine ourselves and ask ouselves how many of those beliefs are evident in what we do.
Don’t fear change - “You might not see the need to change because you don’t see a difference between what you know and what you need to know. In other words, you think you’re fine just the way you are; it’s just easier to stay the same than it is to change.” - Rob Ketterling
As leaders, we are called to come beside folks and work with them - how can we serve them in a way that helps make their jobs easier and more productive?
Two quotes I've taken to heart recently: "Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it." -- Charles Swindoll "Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant." -- Robert Louis Stevenson
We all need to be innovative - doing nothing to grow makes us stale.....
“We can’t ask teachers to be innovative in their practice while administrators do the same thing they have always done.” georgecouros.ca/blog/archives/…

You can't get to the top by behaving like everyone else.
About outsourcing to others. We have to trust our people to do a great job and not think we will do it better ourselves (that’s not always true anyway). We need to build & train our staff so that our organizations (in my case, schools) will run well, even when we are not there!
Family first - always - we believe it, but that doesn’t mean it is easy to put into practice. We need to ask our spouses whether we are good at this, then the truth will be known.
This is refreshing... “Finally, business principles aren’t the key to improving U.S. education. If choice and competition improve schools, I found no sign of it. Pitting schools against each other in a test-score “Hunger Games” drags everyone down.” washingtonpost.com/news/answer-sh…
Thanks @MegBr29782288 for sharing your real life Auggie story with some of our 4th graders! They loved the opportunity to ask questions and learn from your experiences! #JSE180 #choosekind #wonder @erinmaeh

FYI - our building administrators are increasing their social presence through the district Facebook account and their own Twitter accounts.
Look for the positives! Praising students is much more fun than disciplining them. Unless you do the prior, you'll end up doing the latter.
