In-work poverty has become increasingly prevalent over the last few decades. A relatively modest percentage increase (10% in 2001/02 to 12% in 2022/23) translates to a huge 55% increase in the number of workers in poverty to 3.9 million, up 1.4 million since 2001/02.

Much of the so-called 'affordable' housing being built is not safe and secure. We need council housing built at scale and that is not delivered for private profit. Unlike what we are witnessing throughout London at the moment.
