The downside risk are enormous just from infrastructure maintenance costs alone. There is going to be blowback from water consumption as well.

Slow internet speeds was a major cause in the dotcom bubble popping in the late 90s. It takes GPT5 almost as long to generate data then it did to load a web page back then.
Dotcom bubble popped because internet speeds were too slow. AI speeds are probably slower now then dial up internet connections were in the 90s. It takes minutes to get a response out of GPT5 sometimes.
Excel was probably more groundbreaking in the 80s to productivity then LLMs are. AI bubble needs to deflate a little. Electrical grid and water systems aren't going to keep up with the demand just like the network speeds couldn't keep up with .Com boom in the 90s.
