A society with intact self-respect wouldn’t tolerate capitalism for a generation, never mind a century. The trick was simple... train people to doubt themselves, blame themselves, and normalise the humiliation built into the system.

Capitalism has destroyed the family unit, made communities obsolete, isolated the working class, and left nearly everyone broke. Yet it continues to shove commercialized holidays like Thanksgiving/Christmas down our throats with a mocking facade of family-oriented wholesomeness.

Not that anyone would look to me for a discourse shattering opinion, but I loved TRAIN DREAMS. Very pro over here. Does that make me a simpleton as some of the detractors suggest? Maybe. But I probably don’t think highly of some of the films those folks glorify. So it’s fine.
