Ahh, my first programming language :) You could write anything in #Fortran 77. I remember me Computer Centre boss challenging me to do a recursive tree-printing program in it. I did. Circ.1980.

ON THIS DAY | In 1954, John Backus and his team at IBM ran the first FORTRAN program. FORTRAN stands for FORmula TRANslation and was the first high-level language and compiler developed. #OnThisDay

GitHub Copilot does 'pair-programming' with #AI. Microsoft (#GitHub owner) now uses a mountain of free code in GitHub as AI's first suggestion then the human #programmer refines it, as a training session for more #AI code! github.blog/2021-06-29-int…

Well done Metawerx

All web servers are now on @Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. It hasn't been the smoothest upgrade. One server had to be completely rebuilt and a fresh install acts differently to an upgrade from 18.04. All running great now though. We are also using the latest @phpmyadmin. Very nice!

Someone asked on hackernews if a programmer's useful life is over at 35. I'm well into my 60's and am doing my best work yet. Code I wrote at 35 looks like complete crap to me today. I'm surprised it even worked.

If these two were any good at their jobs they'd have spent the past year setting up a system of national quarantine stations instead of acting like clowns. People would be able to return home to Aus without the added stress. Both members of the Qld LNP, of course. #auspol #qldpol
