CAPSTONE

This is a part of an individual capstone project in LRCH.
The difference between Racial inequality and equality is a thinner line than most think. But you should never factor in what happened before. Slavery and racism is not what the younger generation have experienced, it is the unfortunate history of the past.
Black students have lagged behind their white peers in academic achievement. According to the National Center for Education Statistics in 2014, the high school graduation rate for white students was 87%, while for black students, it was 73%. Source: apa.org/monitor/2016/1…
Psychologist Kent Harber, PhD, in his studies found that when white teachers give feedback on a poorly written essay, they are more critical if they think the author was a white student rather than a black one source: ( Journal of Educational Psychology ®, 2012).
As proof that affirmative action is ineffective, I have here a presentation of college admission percentages based on race. source: hechingerreport.org/facts-about-ra…
Affirmative action is to favor individuals belonging to groups regarded as disadvantaged or subject to discrimination. How disadvantaged can a person be? Yes, there are people that need help in education, but is it necessary to sacrifice others, in order to achieve " diversity"?
Disney casted another black female for the role of Iron heart. Yet another advantage given by race. Disney could've replaced Iron Man with the actor Ty Simpkins, who played Harley Keen in Iron Man 3, But Disney can't have a blonde white boy have the main role can it?
The actor casted as Snow White was exposed after claiming Trump supporters were racists back in May 2020 as well as supporting violence against JK Rowling. All of this was ignored likely because Disney needed someone who could push their message of "Your race doesn't matter."
Casting decisions for "The Little Mermaid" and "Snow White" have been criticized that it has not stayed true to the original source material made by Disney. They've given advantages because of the color of their skin, and completely ignored the many other people who auditioned.
Racial equality is for people to gain equal opportunities in education and careers. Big media companies have been giving advantages to certain people for the color of their skin, instead of the competence of an individual.
