Today marks one year of being out. Itโs been an absolutely crazy year filled with so many ups and downs but I finally feel completely and authentically myself ๐. I have received so much love and support from family and friends (some I anticipated, some I didnโt)#FaithfullyLGBT
I often think about one specific prayer I said as a 10-year-old, asking God to keep a โsecretโ between the two of us. Obviously, God knows everything, so it wasnโt like I could hide it from Him. But I could hide it from [most] of my friendsโฆfrom my family.

some days I still wake up angry with the church. angry that the "truths" it taught me were often lies. angry that the love it preached was thinly veiled hatred toward the other. angry that it rejected the fullness of who I am. usually, at the end of anger, is grief and pain.
