Sunday. It's Sunday, a day off. Instead, my guts are obsessed with writing the curriculum for a video series titled "Understanding Layout". What do you want to understand about how the entire system of layout works on the web? To understand about how to imagine a design?

The roots of DesignCPQ – said best by those who said it first.

“Websites must be designed from the inside out, with primary focus on the _core tasks its users need to accomplish_.” The Core Model: Designing Inside Out for Better Results by Ida Aalen. Old gold from @AListApart. alistapart.com/article/the-co…

At this point, I’m pretty sure that the tech industry uses “engagement” as a euphemism for “addiction.”

Making good behind-the-scenes progress with the studio.zeldman site redesign. It’s amazing how many UX and UI problems you can avoid just by cutting content to the bare, vital minimum. Find the bit that actually matters to your customer, and deliver the hell out of it.

Think of your company’s website as one of @sarah_edo’s new articles, and omit everything after the most important part. That’s #designCPQ.

When I first started to write technical articles: "I should leave the most important part until the end so they read through the whole thing!" Now: "I should put the most important part at the beginning so they don't have to read the whole thing!"

The inspiration for @DesignCPQ: @fredgatesdesign’s redesign of the @ClassroomInc homepage—collapsing many pages worth of content into a fast-reading, visually engaging page—has gone live. @studiozeldman helped with the content. classroominc.org

Don’t start your design system with components. Start with user scenarios. @yeseniaa #aeasea

"Scannability" is good for transactions but bad for thoughtful content. - @zeldman #aeasea
