Some light reading on police comms. Would love to hear from current/ex serving officers on the intro of press officers and more recently social media. Can of course be completely anonymous.
Does mentioning the brand of camera system make you think twice if carrying out disorder is in the mindset? For those where trouble isn’t on the agenda does this reassure you? Is this preemptive policing based on reputation, what’s in front of them or a poor generalisation?
This account is to gather info for my dissertation on police use of MSM and SM to influence spectators of sporting events - comparing different forces and outputs for other events. **tweets sent to this handle may be used in my dissertation** Please DM me for more info
‘Another’ derby but contrast in the messages pre-match. Is that down to the challenges on match day or the mindset of the force being different. Maybe it’s both but does it make a difference?
DERBYDAY: Enjoy the @BCFC and @AVFCOfficial derby today everyone. We have a comprehensive policing plan in place and there will be some road closures and restrictions in place. More details here: ow.ly/LpaY30nZhUE
ICYMI - just a few hours left to vote. Interesting results so far!
thestar.co.uk/news/sheffield… This release was issued in the lead up to tonight’s Steel City derby. Does this sort of thing genuinely work? Does it set the tone? Does it give some a sense of bravery because of police numbers? Or does it have absolutely zero effect?
