At heart, this is about self-binding. I think this is a brilliant documentary which gets to the heart of the ethical dilemmas (with apologies that it has me in for a bit): bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00…

This is a concerning story. Two initial thoughts: ADRTs are there to enable us, with capacity, to make *future* decisions (regardless what our *incapacitous* future self might say?); it again makes me lose confidence in the correct processes and safeguards around ADRTs.

Piercingly incisive blog by ⁦@Eleanor_Tallon. “It was hard to believe some of the stigmatising and derogatory language used by Lord Reed and some other judges to refer to people with dementia.” ⁩Indeed. openjusticecourtofprotection.org/2025/10/29/lib…

I'm hearing from several organisations that they learnt about the Supreme Court case reconsidering Cheshire West too late to apply as interveners or applications were turned down. What system is in place to ensure that significant cases like these are publicised in advance?

Being there in person to see Luba MacPherson taken away from the courtroom to prison is a moment I will never forget. It’s the first time I’ve observed a Court of Protection hearing that ended that way. I’ve written about the experience in this joint blog with @KitzingerCelia
