Our local rates of hip fracture are up 30% in the last 5 years, following similar trends

Well... there's an increasing amount of that going around. If this is the *start* of a trend, it is *very bad*.

On the heals of yesterday's scathing Auditor General's report, I go to the CBC web this morning and am greeted with this. What in the name of all is holy is going on with our healthcare system?

I’m calling it! Fall/Winter is over and so concludes our “reasons kids broke their bones” seasonal non scientific tick board. Happy to once again see high energy skidoo injuries were low!

Sometimes I change the lyrics of the second verse of Fake Plastic Trees so that it’s about hip fractures. #radiohead “She used to do surgery For girls in their 80s But gravity always wins And it wears her out It wears her out”

the FIRST thing I did in 2020 once it was named was look up its "parent" every day I log in, I get angry every day there's ANOTHER research article that simply RECONFIRMS what I knew in 2020 ALL SARS-COV-1 survivors suffered osteoporosis & necrosis of the femoral head

I have started counting all the times I have seen health service senior leaders/CEOs/Health Ministers make great fanfare about seeking frontline worker input on how to improve the system. 1/

Do you know what is even more terrifying than angry healthcare workers fighting for a better system? Ones that don’t care anymore. Think about that before you label people as “difficult”.

And so concludes summer. What a great year we had with almost no ATV or Dirtbike crashes in the paediatrics population here in Western Zone. Those blasted trampolines though 🤣 #pediatricfractures #kidssafety @NL_HealthServ
